Too many clients go to a web designer without any content, or with content they've written themselves.
You can't just upload the text from your brochures and think that's OK. It's not. Writing for the web is completely different to writing for print. For one thing, it's harder to read on screen, so the copy needs to be shorter and punchier. Also, people can navigate web pages in any order, so each page needs to stand alone. What's more, you may need to seamlessly embed keywords and key phrases for search engines to pick up, without putting off human beings with clumsy repetition.
You need skills in marketing, to translate your key selling messages convincingly. Skills in psychology, to know the buying triggers that will make people pick up the phone, email you, or take whatever other action you want them to. And the ability to spell and construct grammatical sentences, in order to look professional and do your business justice.
